Ambassador Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Australia Shane L. Stone

2018

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Ambassador Program was launched in October 2009 by Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, NSW Governor, and HRH The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG GCVO, at a ceremony in Sydney. Ambassadors for the Duke of Edinburgh are members of the community who use their talent and networks to promote the value and importance of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award for young Australians. Ambassadors commit to provide a financial donation of $AUD25,000 that goes directly towards supporting Award Programs.  After 5 years Ambassadors are invited to become continuous donors towards projects and research work supporting disadvantaged youth. Most importantly none of the funds raised through the Ambassador program is spent on administration. Since the introduction of the Award in 1959 over 800,000 young Australians have completed the Award. Presented to the Honourable Shane L Stone AC KC (former National Chairman), in Sydney on 21 November 2023 by the Patron of the International Award HRH Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh KG, GCVO, CD, ADC, on the occasion of his Australian visit to mark the 60th anniversary of the Award in Australia.
