Memorial Church Service Jim and Jenny Cooper

James aka Jim Wilson Cooper AM passed on 29 January 2022. The family determined to hold a memorial service for Jim and Jenny who had passed some years previously at the Anglican Christ Church Cathedral Darwin to enable those Territorians defeated by the COVID travel restrictions to honour both Jenny and Jim. Shane Stone was invited to deliver a Eulogy, consistent with the Forward he wrote on Jim's behalf when he published his biography. Jim was a senior Freemason and for a time 'in the Chair' of the Darwin Lodge. Shane Stone was a Knight of Malta, a lay Order of the Catholic Church. In times past during the dark era of sectarian conflict in Australia Freemasonry was in constant conflict with Catholics who gave as good as they got. Jobs, business opportunities, sporting, and social events were at times defined by religious allegiance. Catholics were forbidden under the pain of ex-communication to embrace Freemasonry. Notwithstanding Jim and Shane were good friends and remained so until Jenny and Jim's passing. The program of service is followed by the Eulogy delivered by Shane Stone honouring his friends Jim and Jenny Cooper.
