Drought and North Queensland Flood Agency Corporate Plan 2019-20 to 2022-23

The Drought & North Queensland Floods Corporate Plan 2019-20 to 2022-23 (the Plan) updates the inaugural corporate plan developed by The  North Queensland Livestock Industry Recovery Agency (NQLIRA) following its establishment in March 2019. In December 2019 the National Drought was added to the North Queensland Floods responsibility. This Plan conveys the strategic intent of the Drought and Flood Agency at the time of its publication. Readers should note that the agency is subject to a range of evolving circumstances. These will change the nature of and demands upon, the agency over time. As such, this Plan was updated and republished as required. The purpose of the Drought and Flood Agency is to provide strategic leadership and coordination of the Australian Government’s response and recovery assistance to communities affected by the national drought and the 2019 Monsoon Trough. The Agency also advised the Government on the timeliness, effectiveness and delivery of assistance, as well as strategies that enabled communities to be better positioned to respond to future drought and natural disasters. On 1 July 2021, the Morrison Government established the National Recovery and Resilience Agency (NRRA) absorbing drought, north QLD floods, DRFA functions from the Department of Home Affairs and the Rural Financial Counselling Service from the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment. and appointed Shane Stone as the Co-ordinator General.
