Shane Stone read with Richard aka Dick Stanley at the Victorian Bar. He was a leader of the Victorian Bar with acknowledged expertise in the common law. He shared Chambers with Jeff Sher QC. Dick mentored seven readers: John Williams, the Hon Jack Forrest QC (former Supreme Court, Victoria), Paul Scanlon QC, John Batten, Michael Sharpley, Michael Wilson QC, and the Hon Shane L. Stone AC QC (former Attorney General and Chief Minister Northern Territory). Richard Stanley took silk in 1983 on the completion of Shane Stone's readership).
