Andrew Peacock and Shane Stone

Shane Stone with the Honourable Andrew Peacock AC, the 7th leader of the Federal Liberal Party (11 March 1983 - 5 September 1985 and 9 May 1989 - 3 April 1990). Photographed in Paris at the International Democratic Union meeting. Andrew Peacock was one of the founders of the IDU in London in 1983. In the history of the IDU, three other Australians have filled leadership roles. the Hon John Howard OM AC, Chairman, Hon Shane Stone AC QC, Assistant Chairman, and Brian Loughnane AO Assistant and subsequently Deputy Chairman. Post politics Andrew served as Australia's Ambassador to the United States. Papua New Guinea in 2017 conferred the national award Chief Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu in recognition of the role Andrew Peacock played in the Independence from Australia. Andrew Peacock passed away in Austin, Texas where he had retired on 16 April 2021.
