Developing the North

Former Chief Minister of the NT and current Commonwealth Co-ordinator-General, Drought and North Queensland Response and Recovery Agency the Hon Shane L Stone AC QC paying a call on the Office of Norther Development, Darwin. As Minister for Industries in the Perron Government and subsequently as Chief Minister of the NT Shane Stone was at the forefront of promoting northern development. Appointed by the Commonwealth Government to undertake the preliminary inquiries into northern development he reported to Prime Minister Abbott on 6 May 2015 in Canberra. His report was titled: 'Northern Australia Advisory Group Final Advice to the Strategic Partnership developing the north'; see Report This report, in turn, informed the Abbott Government's White Paper on Developing Northern Australia 'Our North, Our Future: White Paper on Developing Northern Australia' Launched 19 July 2015 in Cairns, North Queensland.
