Appointment as Queens Counsel

Correspondence from the Administrator of the Northern Territory the Hon Dr Neil Conn AO GCStJ in relation to the allegation that the Commission of Queens Counsel was a self-appointment. See also Warrant of Commission Further alleged in Wikipedia and most recently the ABC and Crikey (subsequently withdrawn by both media outlets), the claim has always been challenged but 'fake news' has at times prevailed. As advised by the Australian Bar Association (ABA) 9 September 2022 persons appointed as QCs automatically became Kings Counsel (KC) following the accession to the Throne of His Majesty King Charles III. The foregoing is the automatic effect of the Demise of the Crown Act 1901, s 1.
