NQLIRA in the beginning

Media conference Chairman of the North Queensland Livestock Industry Recovery Taskforce Shane Stone and Bruce Hill the Manager and Proprietor of Australia's only Achacha plantation south of Townsville, North Queensland following the devastating flood of January 2019.  The plantation was established in 2003 by Bruce and Helen Hill to grow and market the Achacha (Garcinia humilis, achachairú), tropical fruit from the Amazon Basin of Bolivia. Initially, 16,000 trees were planted, and the first fruit was marketed in 2009. Following the flood, NQLIRA facilitated a grant to the plantation to enable resumption of operations.
