Card from Mrs Shirley McKerrow, CLP member and former Federal President of the National Party of Australia, following the retirement of Shane Stone as Chief Minister of Australia's Northern Territory. Extensive mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide, hence, a small selection of the correspondence has been included in the archives. Extract: ''It may be another 5 to 10 years before Territorians realize the full extent of your achievement - but you have certainly contributed enormously to the future of the Territory. I am personally shocked and appalled at the events of the past week. I admire the courage and dignity you displayed...''. Shane had first met Shirley McKerrow in her role as the President of the Country Party in Victoria. Following her retirement as Federal President of the National Party she moved to Darwin and became an active member of the CLP. Shane Stone responded May 4 and urged support for Denis Burke..
