Letter from the British High Commissioner

Correspondence from His Excellency Mr Alex Allan, British High Commissioner to Australia following the retirement of Shane Stone as Chief Minister of Australia's Northern Territory. Extensive mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Asia Pacific region, the Territory and from Australia wide, hence, a small selection of the correspondence has been included in the archives. Shane Stone responded May 5. Chief Minister Stone ran a very active sponsored visitation program for Heads of Mission (Ambassadors and High Commissioners) promoting the Territory's profile and so encourage investment and tourism. He also actively encouraged the appointment of honorary consuls.
