Letter from the Australian Ambassador in Nepal

18 February 1999

Correspondence from His Excellency Brendan Doran, Australian Ambassador to Nepal and formerly Director of the DFAT Office Darwin and his wife Debra, following the retirement of Shane Stone as Chief Minister of Australia's Northern Territory. Extensive mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide, hence, a small selection of the correspondence has been included in the archives. Extract: ''Sorry to hear about what happened and the way it was done'', was a reference to the dissidents waiting for Shane Stone to travel inter-state on Territory business before they mobilised.
