Letter from Mr Cameron Thompson MP

2 March 1999

Correspondence from the Federal Member for Blair, Mr Cameron Thompson MP, following the retirement of Shane Stone as Chief Minister of Australia's Northern Territory. Extensive mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide, hence, a small selection of the correspondence has been included in the archives. Extract: ''...you have brought the Northern Territory back into the front line of debate across Australia. Territory issues benefited from your contribution but most from your capacity to generate interest and concern in Governments and in the wider community Australia wide. You invested a great deal of time and energy building a network of support for the Territory that extends from Canberra across the nation''. Cameron Thompson was Shane Stone's first press secretary based in Darwin. In later years he launched Cameron Thompson's campaign in Kingaroy that led to defeating Pauline Hanson as the Federal Member for Blair. Shane Stone's reply of May 5 attached.
