Correspondence from Father Rex Hackett, Parish Priest Casino NSW, congratulating Shane Stone on his election as Chief Minister of Australia's Northern Territory. Extensive congratulatory mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide following Shane Stone's election, hence, a small selection has been included in the archives. Extract:Firstly let me congratulate you on your brave and courageous stand against the Bill that legalised euthanasia in the Northern Territory - a sad day for Australia; but your stand has encouraged me as a priest. Secondly, let me encourage you and your wife Josephine, in your decision in conscience to enroll in the in-vitro fertilisation program to have your second child. I spend a lot of my 29th years as a Priest introducing people to the Catholic Church's teaching on the supremacy of an informed conscience over all other law...''.
