Letter from the Mayor of Katherine

Correspondence from Mr Jim Forscutt, Mayor of Katherine, on Shane Stone's election as Chief Minister of Australia's Northern Territory. Shane Stone spent lengthy periods in Katherine on circuit appearing for the Katherine Aboriginal Legal Aid Service in the early 1980's before moving permanently to the Northern Territory in the mid to late 1980's. Extensive congratulatory mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide following Shane Stone's election, hence, a small selection has been included in the archives.
