Letter from the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister, Brunei

17 September 1997

Correspondence from Dato Paduka Mohd Alimin ABD Wahab, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister, Brunei, Darussalam following the very successful 1997 General Election campaign that saw the return of the Stone CLP Government. Extensive mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide following the resounding election victory, hence, a small selection of the correspondence has been included in the archives. The Northern Territory has long enjoyed a close relationship with Brunei and Chief Minister Stone had a close personal working relationship with HM the Sultan of Brunei which is evident from the Archives on this website. See also Archive Documents 'General Election 1997 analysis' (which represented a high water mark for the CLP with a 54.7% primary vote and a record turn out).
