Letter from Acting Consul Indonesia Darwin

Correspondence from Pak Agus Sardjana, acting Konsul (Consul) Republik Indonesia. Darwin following the retirement of Shane Stone as Chief Minister. Extensive mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide, hence, a small selection of the correspondence has been included in the archives. Extract: ''...convey to you my profound gratitude and appreciation for your co-operation and good understanding...in matters affecting relations between Indonesia and the Northern Territory. I especially thank you for your successful lobby of Mr Ali Alatas (Indonesian Foreign Minister), not to close down the Indonesian consulate in Darwin in the aftermath of the Indonesian economic downturn (a reference to the Asian financial crisis)''. Shane Stone reply of 28 April acknowledged the participation of the Indonesian Consulate in Shane and Josephine's testimonial dinner.
