Letter from Jean Whitla

Correspondence from Jean Whitla congratulating Shane on his election as Chief Minister. Generally the response was a template acknowledgement signed by Shane with a personal note following the signature block. Where a fuller response was require such as in this case the Chief Minister dictated a detailed reply. In this instance (copy response attached) the euthanasia legislation which Shane Stone opposed was confused with making a living will (Natural Death Act, 1988). Extensive congratulatory mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide following Shane Stone's election, hence, a small selection has been included in the archives.
