Also Mrs Murrell participated in the Chief Ministers Reception for the Olympians held at Parliament House Darwin. Recipient Medal of the Order of Australia, Queen's Birthday 1996 her citation read: 'FOR SERVICE AS A SPORTS ADMINISTRATOR, TO PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND OR VISION IMPAIRED, AND IN THE AREAS OF EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES'.
