Shane Stone Murray River Wahgunyah

According to Pam Stone and a handwritten note on the back of the photograph this is a picture of Shane playing in the Murray River shallows at Wahgunyah on the Victorian NSW border. At the time Les Stone was the Headmaster of the one teacher school at Cornishtown near Chiltern. He had struck up a friendship with then owner of All Saints winery, the Sutherland Smith family, who invited Les to teach the vineyard workers English in exchange of some wine. A number of the Italians stayed in contact including the Franscicine family who moved to Melbourne.
