Shane Stone

Shane Stone on the banks of the Murray River, Corowa, on the NSW Victoria border. Having recently moved to Wodonga Les Stone had been the Headmaster of the one teacher school at Cornishtown near Chiltern. He had struck up a friendship with then owner of All Saints winery, the Sutherland Smith family, who invited Les to teach the vineyard workers English in exchange of some wine. The Stone family continued to visit All Saints winery, Wahgunyah and maintained a close relationship with many of the Italian workers long after they left for other parts of Australia. A number of the Italians stayed in contact including the Franscicine family who moved to Melbourne.
