12 July 1985
Letter of acknowledgment and appreciation from Police Prosecutions Katherine following Shane Stone's short-term placement as the Acting Director of the fledgling Katherine Regional Aboriginal Legal Aid Service (KRALAS), a sub-organization of the North Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service (NAALAS). The Katherine service was chaired by local indigenous man Larry Ah Lin, a Korean War Veteran. Shane's field officer was local aboriginal woman Matti MacIntosh. Following Shane Stone's deployment to Katherine back in Darwin he helped progress the formal establishment of KRALAS IN 1985 before returning to his practice at the Victorian Bar. Shane recruited the late Mary Risdale (practicing in PNG), as the first KRALAS resident director. Later Mary moved to Alice Springs in 1989 and joined the law firm Buckley & Stone. Shane and Josephine Stone had by that stage moved permanently from Melbourne to Alice Springs.
