Letter from former RANR colleague Adam Wolfe

29 May 1995

Correspondence from Lieutenant Adam Wolfe RANR, a Navy Reserve colleague from another era congratulating Shane Stone on his election as Chief Minister. Extensive congratulatory mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide following Shane Stone's election, hence, a small selection has been included in the archives. Shane Stone's reply attached. It was the seamanship and skill of LCDR Graham Smethurst RANR (Divisional Officer, HMAS Lonsdale), a BHP Ships Captain, saved the day during a very dangerous and traumatic crossing of Bass Strait that is etched in one's memory forever, never to be forgotten - ''pieces of eight'' indeed. Adam refers in his letter to HMAS Attack but rather it was HMAS Bayonet, an Attack Class patrol boat.  SBLT's Lukiatis and Stone
