Australian Financial Review 'Power rebates possible in QLD'. A timely article that failed to gain traction in the public domain. As Chairman of ENERGEX Limited, Shane Stone continuously highlighted to responsible Ministers the importance of dealing with escalating power prices and what might be done at a State level to relieve household pressures. The problem was that Governments of both political persuasion were addicted to the ever expansive revenue streams (similar to gambling), complicated by irresponsible 'green schemes' like solar feed in tariffs that were effectively subsidized by the poor. As the power assets were owned by the QLD State Government cost of power was a matter within the remit of the Government of the day. Left to his own devices as Chairman Shane Stone with the support of then CEO Terry Effeney oversaw an aggressive and expansive community support program to try and give something back.
