Chief Minister's Reception Italian Ambassador

Chief Minister Shane Stone hosted a Reception for the visiting Italian Ambassador His Excellency Marcello Spatafora. Chief Minister Stone extended the same courtesy to all visiting Heads of Mission who came to Darwin. Such events provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the ethnic diversity of the Territory and to enable Ambassadors and High Commissioners to meet their countrymen and women who call Australia home. Also, Shane Stone was the Patron of the Italian Club in Darwin and deeply Immersed in the Italian community through family and friends. Marcello Spatafora was Italian Ambassador to Australia 1993 to 1997. He previously served in Malta and Malaysia. After Australia, he served as Ambassador to Albania 1997 to 1999 and then as the Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations from 2003 to 2008 including a year as President of the UN Security Council. Chief Minister Stone welcoming Ambassador Spatafora and speaking about the contribution of the Italian community to the growth and development of Australia's Northern Territory.
