Former Chief Minister and member for Nightcliff Steve Hatton with Territory Olympian James Swan. James Swan (born 6 July 1974 in Alice Springs) is an indigenous bantamweight boxer, who represented Australia at the 1996 and later 2000 Summer Olympics. Swan won bronze medals at the 1994 and 1998 Commonwealth Games. He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. He was also formerly a Young Territorian of the Year. Steve Hatton had been proactive during his ministerial career in supporting and nurturing Territory sports stars. The NT Institute of Sport was established by the Stone CLP Government in 1996; the architect and driving force was Steve Hatton who served as Sports Minister in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Stone Ministries.
