Barry Chambers, Shane Stone, Frank Alcorta and Barry Coulter

Kilcoy Race Club Veterans Race Day (formerly Long Tan Day). Barry Chambers (Vietnam Veteran and form senior department secretary in the Northern Territory Government), Shane Stone, Frank Alcorta MG OAM MiD (Battle of Long Tan Veteran) and Barry Coulter. Long Tan Day is now known as Vietnam Veterans Day and is commemorated on August 18 each year. Frank Alcorta was awarded the Medal for Gallantry (MG) arising from the Battle of Long Tan where he demonstrated conspicuous bravery. His citation read 'For acts of gallantry in hazardous circumstances as platoon sergeant of 2 Platoon, A Company, the 6th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, during the Battle of Long Tan, Phuoc Tuy Province, Vietnam on 18 August 1966'. He had previously been Mentioned in Dispatches (MiD) in an earlier engagement with enemy forces. In later years Frank was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia Australia Day 26 January 2013. His citation read 'For service to veterans and their families, and to journalism'.
