This chapter from Shane Stone's on-line book on this website sets out in detail the achievements and policies at that time. Consistent with Shane Stone's support for gender equity he chose to retire as Federal President of the Liberal Party so that the first female President would be elected in his place. That person was Mrs. Christine McDiven AM from the NSW Division of the Liberal Party.
