Chief Minister Stone participating in the Happy Migrant Learning Centre Christmas party 1996. The Centre is a Member of the Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory. Chief Minister Stone held the Ethnic Affairs portfolio throughout his Ministerial career. Shane Stone remained strongly committed to the Territory’s ethnic communities supporting a range of activities and funding proposals. Shane Stone was widely recognized by various ethnic clubs and organizations for his support and contribution. Josephine Stone nee Novak is a first generation Australian (Croatia | Slovenia). Shane Stone’s late father Les Stone was a former President of the Wodonga Good Neighbour Council and a pioneer in migrant education in Wodonga and Bonegilla Migrant camp.
