Darwin Ambon Yacht Race

Ready for the start of the race in Darwin Harbour, Jim Noonan at the helm watched by Tim Prichard. HMAS Wollongong awaits instructions to fire the starters cannon. Crew comprised the 'Skipper' Jim Noonan, navigator Mal Sciacca, cook Shane Stone, deckhands Rob Stewart (also photographer), George Watkins and Tim Prichard. Shane Stone at the helm albeit it briefly. The yacht owned by Jim Noonan was a monohull Mottle 33 designed by Australian Joe Adams - named the 'Frances Claire'.
