The 2016 Republican National Convention was held in Cleveland, Ohio July 18-21, 2016. The IDU sent a 108 strong delegation including representatives of the Federal Liberal Party and National Party of Australia. Day 2: International Republican Institute (IRI) Foreign Policy Forum - 'The Future of US National Security Policy'. Panel 1 'Republican Principles in American Global Engagement' moderated by Congressman Peter Roskam (Illinois's 6th congressional district. Currently serves as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight). Left to right General Richard Hawley (formerly Commander of Air Combat Command. Hawley was responsible for organizing, training, equipping and maintaining combat-ready air forces for rapid deployment and employment in the United States and worldwide involving 1,050 aircraft and approximately 103,400 active-duty military members and civilian personnel at 27 major installationsa Vietnam veteran); Governor Luis Fortuno (10th Governor Puerto Rico, formerly president of the New Progressive Party of Puerto Rico) and Senator David Perdue (Senator from Georgia, former CEO of Reebok athletic brand and Dollar General. Currently Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the State Department and USAID Management). Democracy building and reform through the Australian Political Parties for Democracy Program administered and audited by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
