Sri Lanka Independence Day

4 February 1998

Sri Lanka Independence Day celebrations held at Parliament House Darwin. Chief Minister Shane Stone with Committee Members of the Sri Lanka Australia Friendship Association, an organisation committed to finding a way of providing a friendly network for new arrivals to Darwin, and to build links between Sri Lankans and local Territorians. Celebrations coincided the visit of Sri Lanka Minister and his wife. Left to Right Sri Lanka Minister the Hon Laxman Kirielle, Minister Mick Palmer, Chief Minister Shane Stone – NT Chief Minister and Sandy Gunatunga NT Association President.
