NT Variety 'Bash' 1997

23 June 1997

NT Variety Club bash 1997. In 1985 Dick Smith and his mates ran a charity event - a "Bash" in the outback. They bribed, cheated and laughed their way around a route. It was heaps of fun and raised a lot of money for children. It is now so popular Variety NT and the other States hold their own Bash each year. The Variety NT Bash is not a rally or race. It’s an opportunity to join like-minded people on an adventure to explore the remote corners of the outback. It’s the opportunity to make lifelong friends with an ever growing collection of people known as 'Bashers'. It’s an opportunity to drive old cars to some magic places. All this knowing that every dollar raised goes to make the lives better for children with special needs and their families in the Territory. Chief Minister Shane Stone with contestants.
