Asia Pacific Democratic Union (APDU), regional grouping within the International Democratic Union (IDU). Meeting in Sydney Australia 5 to 7 October 2006 hosted by the Federal Liberal Party of Australia. Democracy building and reform through the Australian Political Parties for Democracy Program formerly administered and audited by AusAID (Australia’s Overseas Aid Program) and now DFAT (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade). Doug Kefford AO (Vice Chairman of APDU), Bruce Edwards (International Secretary of Liberal Party and Executive Secretary of APDU) and Hon Ranil Wickremesinghe MP (Party Leader UNP - Sri Lanka, Chairman APDU. Former Prime Minister of Sri Lanka).
