The Australian Newspaper 'Much ado about a misstep' Opinion piece on the Award of Knight of the Order of Australia to HRH Prince Phillip The Duke of Edinburgh as a foreign recipient. The important piece of information missed in the article was the fact that the Hawke Labor Government had conferred a Companion of the Order of Australia on Prince Phillip on Queens Birthday 13 June 1988. In that sense the elevation to Knight was completely unremarkable and not worthy of the commentary and feigned outrage by some.
