Letter from Mr Bruce Reid MP

3 September 1997

Correspondence of congratulations from Mr Bruce Reid MP, Federal Member for Bendigo, on winning Port Darwin and the very successful 1997 General Election campaign that saw the return of the Stone CLP Government (referenced ''the only poll that counts''). Extensive mail, fax and telephone messages were received from throughout the Territory and from Australia wide following the resounding election victory, hence, a small selection of the correspondence has been included in the archives. See also Archive Documents 'General Election 1997 analysis' (which represented a high water mark for the CLP with a 54.7% primary vote and a record turn out). Bruce Reid's letter turns on his knowledge that Shane Stone was born in Bendigo. See Archive Documents 'Bendigo Advertiser Northern leader returns home'
