NT Trade Delegation General Santos City

Plaque Commemorating visit to General Santos City and SOCSARGEN Area Southern Philippines by Minister Stone and the NT Delegtion. The City of General Santos is the Philippines southern most city critical to the live cattle trade from the NT. Part of SOCSARGEN a region of the Philippines located in central Mindanao officially designated as Region XII. The name is an acronym that stands for the region's four Provinces and one of its cities: South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and Genderal Santos City. Minister Stone’s Delegation in 1993 was the first of an Australian Governent. The city was reached by light Cessna aircraft over-flying rebel held territory.
