Shane Stone and Jack Ah Kit

1996

NT Tidy Town's Annual Awards 1996. Chief Minister Stone congratulating Jack Ah Kit. Territory Tidy Towns under the auspices of Keep Australia Beautiful (KAB) is a community development program active across the NT. It is about building capacity in communities, not just about choosing the Territory’s tidiest or cleanest communities although this is an important factor. It is about identifying and showcasing the communities and individuals who are putting effort into making positive changes. It is also about positive reinforcement for the many people who are working against the odds and achieving remarkable success. Territory Tidy Towns is about showcasing communities with a get up and go ‘can do’ attitude. Territory Tidy Towns covers large mainstream communities to the remotest outstation or homeland. The remotest and least accessible communities are visited irrespective of size or distance.
