Gough Whitlam and Shane Stone

Pictured with Chief Minister Shane Stone Parliament House Darwin the Honourable Edward aka Gough Whitlam AC QC. Whitlam served as Australia’s 21st Prime Minister. He led the Australian Labor Party (ALP) to power at the 1972 election and retained government at the 1974 election, before being dismissed by Governor-General Sir John Kerr in the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis. Whitlam became a friend of Les Stone and encouraged him through his support for the Albury Wodonga Growth Center in the 1970’s.
