Madeleine Stone was a member of the winning consortium. Over the course of 54 hours, teams were challenged to identify a legal problem and create a tech-based solution before pitching their ideas to a panel of industry professionals. Mentored by the team at Law Squared, Madeleine and her team mates chose to focus on the area of legal capacity and created ‘Cognicity’. Cognicity is an assessment aid which aims to assist lawyers in discharging their duty to evaluate legal capacity. Using medically founded tests and activities, Cognicity tracks the participants cognitive ability and can be used to flag concerns like Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Initially designed for the legal profession, Cognicity has the potential to expand to other industries as a tool for assessing fatigue, memory and communication.
