Dubrovnik is a city in southern Croatia fronting the Adriatic Sea. Known for its distinctive Old Town, encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th century its well-preserved buildings range from baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. Attacked during the Balkan Wars the city remains scarred with shrapnel and sniper fire. Situated 230m kilometers from Splitz birthplace of Anna Novak nee Mlinaric (further Anglicised in Australia to Milar and Miller) mother of Josephine Stone nee Novak.
