Shane, Josephine and Madeleine Stone visited Dubrovnik a city in southern Croatia fronting the Adriatic Sea. Known for its distinctive Old Town, encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th century. Its well-preserved buildings range from the baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. The city was attacked during the Balkan Wars following the break up of the former Yugoslavia and remains scarred with shrapnel and sniper fire. Dubrovnik is situated 230 kilometres from Splitz, the birthplace of Anna Novak nee Mlinaric (further Anglicised in Australia to Milar and Miller) mother of Josephine Stone. Anna migrated to Australia with her family following WWII. Photographed Madeliene and Josephine in the hotel courtyard..
